Terms of Service
Effective September 15, 2026
The short version: Inlet Games is run by Heron Networks LLC. You buy a game once and it stays yours — no subscription, no ads, no in-game purchases. An account is optional; you only need one if you want your purchases to follow you to another device. We don't own what you make of the game and you don't own the game itself — you get a licence to play it. If a purchase goes wrong we'll fix it (see Refunds). Everything below is the long version of exactly that.
Pre-review notice. This page was drafted in-house to describe what inlet.games actually does. It has not yet been reviewed by an attorney, and the governing-law and dispute-resolution section below is deliberately left open pending that review. It is an honest description of the deal, not a substitute for counsel.
1. Who you're dealing with
"Inlet Games", "we", "us" and "our" mean Heron Networks LLC, a limited liability company trading as Inlet Games, which operates the website at inlet.games and the games published on it. "You" means the person using the site or a game. Contact: hello@inlet.games.
By loading a game, creating an account, or completing a purchase, you agree to these Terms, to the Privacy Policy, and to the Refund Policy. All three are part of the same agreement. If you don't agree, don't use the site.
2. What we sell, and what you get
Every paid title on inlet.games is a single, one-time purchase. There is no subscription, no recurring charge, no energy meter, no loot box, and no second purchase inside the game. Some titles (currently LASTLETTER and ROOTWORK) are free; some ship a free portion and sell the rest once (TINCT's first ten rooms, for example). We also sell soundtrack downloads and gift codes.
What you buy is a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to play or listen to that product for your own non-commercial enjoyment, on any device you control, for as long as we operate the service. You do not buy the software, the music, the art, or any copyright in them. You may not resell, sublicense, rent, redistribute, or publish the game files or soundtrack files, or bundle them into another product.
You may stream, record, and monetise video of yourself playing an Inlet game — including on YouTube, Twitch, and similar platforms — without asking us. Soundtrack audio is covered by that permission only as part of gameplay footage; it is not a licence to use our music as background music in unrelated videos.
3. Accounts
You can play every game without an account. An account exists for one reason: so your purchases and (if you opt in) your saves survive a lost device or a new browser. Sign-in is by emailed magic link — there is no password to steal. You are responsible for the email inbox that receives those links; anyone with access to it can reach your account.
Accounts are for people, not bots. Don't share one account across a group to avoid paying, don't create accounts to abuse promotions or gift codes, and don't try to attach an entitlement you did not pay for. We may suspend or close an account that does.
You can delete your account at any time — from inside any Inlet game under Settings → Account → Delete account, or by emailing us. Deletion removes your saves and entitlement records; it does not automatically refund a purchase (see Refunds).
4. Buying, prices and payment
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your card number. The price shown on a product page at the moment you start checkout is the price you pay, in US dollars; any tax Stripe is required to collect is shown before you confirm. Our prices are fixed and are not put on sale, so you never lose by buying on the wrong day.
Access is granted when Stripe confirms the payment. If a payment succeeds and access does not appear, that is our problem to fix — email us and we will either deliver it or refund it.
Gift codes and friend passes. A gift code is a prepaid entitlement that transfers once, when it is redeemed. Once redeemed it belongs to the redeeming account and cannot be moved again. Co-op and versus invites let a friend play a session with you without buying the game; they are a courtesy feature, not a licence, and we may change or withdraw them.
Refunds and cancellation. There is nothing to cancel — no purchase creates a recurring charge or a renewal date. Refunds are governed entirely by the Refund Policy, which is part of these Terms: in summary, a 14-day buyer's-remorse window on games, no time limit on double charges, wrong products, or undeliverable content, and the EU/UK digital-content withdrawal notice described on that page. Chargebacks are handled as described there too.
5. Acceptable use
Don't do these things on or to the service:
- Circumvent a paywall, forge an entitlement, or tamper with the client to unlock content you didn't buy.
- Attack the service — denial of service, credential stuffing, automated scraping that degrades it, or probing other people's accounts, co-op rooms, or gift codes.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract assets in order to redistribute them or ship a competing product from them. (Studying how a game works for your own curiosity or for security research you report to us is fine — see below.)
- Use another player's account, or use co-op, friend, or share features to harass someone.
Security research. If you find a vulnerability, email hello@inlet.games. We will not pursue you for good-faith research that avoids other people's data, avoids service degradation, and gives us a reasonable chance to fix the issue before disclosure.
6. Things you put into the service
Inlet games are single-player or small-group; there is no public user-generated content, no profile, and no feed. Where a feature does carry something you typed or generated — a co-op room's shared board state, a share code, a daily-challenge score, a support email — you keep whatever rights you have in it, and you give us only the permission we need to operate that feature: to store it, transmit it to the other player in your session, and display it back to you.
7. Availability, changes, and the end of the service
We run a small studio on shared infrastructure. The service can go down, and a browser or OS update can break a game we tested last month. We'll fix what we can, but we don't promise uptime.
Games get patched, and a patch can change balance, art, or a mechanic. We may add titles, and we may stop selling one.
If we ever shut down a paid product for good, we will say so on The Log and email account holders who own it, with at least 30 days' notice where we control the timing, and we will make a reasonable effort to leave what you bought playable — for example by publishing an offline build or removing the entitlement check. This is a commitment about how we intend to wind something down, not a guarantee that a third party (a browser vendor, a payment processor, a hosting provider) will allow it.
8. Third parties we depend on
Payments run through Stripe, transactional email through Resend, hosting and delivery through Cloudflare, and aggregate page analytics through Google Analytics 4 on the marketing pages. What each of them receives is set out in the Privacy Policy. Their own terms govern their own services; we are not responsible for them, and a failure at one of them can interrupt ours.
9. Age
The service is not directed at children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to create an account. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the service only with a parent or guardian's involvement, and they are responsible for purchases made from their payment method. See the children's section of the Privacy Policy.
10. Disclaimers
Except where the law of your country gives you rights that cannot be excluded — and in the EU, UK, Australia and many other places it does — the service and the games are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that a game will run on any particular device, that it will be uninterrupted, or that it is free of defects.
Nothing here takes away a statutory consumer guarantee. If your local law gives you a remedy for a product that isn't of acceptable quality, you have that remedy regardless of what this section says.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or lost saves. Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you actually paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) US$100.
These limits do not apply to liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including our own fraud, wilful misconduct, or death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
12. Ending the agreement
You can stop using the service at any time, and delete your account as described in section 3. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms — for example by attacking the service or forging entitlements. If we terminate your access for a reason that is not your breach, and you paid for a product you can no longer use, email us and we'll refund it. Sections 2 (licence limits), 10, 11 and 13 survive termination.
13. Governing law and disputes
Not yet set. The governing law, the venue, and whether disputes go to arbitration are deliberately not stated on this page yet. They depend on Heron Networks LLC's state of formation and principal place of business, and they will be added here only after legal review. Until then we make no arbitration or class-action-waiver claim against you.
Until then: nothing in this section limits the rights you have under the consumer-protection law of the country you live in, and you may always bring a claim in your local small-claims court. We will engage in good faith with any dispute raised at hello@inlet.games before either side escalates.
14. Changes to these Terms
If we materially change these Terms, we'll update this page, move the effective date above, and email account holders. A purchase is governed by the Terms that were live at the moment you checked out, not by a later version.
15. The rest
If a provision here is unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Our not enforcing something once doesn't waive it. You may not assign this agreement; we may assign it to a successor if the business is sold, on the same terms. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, are the entire agreement between us about the service.
