Canyon Carvers

The car becomes the board. Three vehicles, one race, no menu.

Canyon Carvers is a racing game. It is still in development. The planned price is $10, bought once. A browser version, iOS and Android are planned.

A kart racer where the kart is not the whole vehicle. Drive off the dock and the car becomes a skateboard mid-air - no menu, no loading - and a surfboard after that. The shortcuts are not marked. You find them by reading the track.

We email you once, on release, and never again. Canyon Carvers cannot be bought yet — nothing is charged and no account is needed.

The car becomes a skateboard mid-air

Most racers give you one vehicle and one verb. This one gives you three, and hands them over mid-corner without stopping the race. You hit the gate at speed, the field punches out, the world flashes, and the car is gone - you are on a board, still in the pack, still on the clock. Then the beach arrives and you are on water. The swap is not a cutscene. It is a feedback event: a camera punch, a white flash, a three-frame freeze, a sting, and a meter you can spend. Miss the gate and you take the long way round while the pack does not.

The shortcuts are not on the map

No arrow, no glowing line, no tutorial pointing at the wall you are supposed to drive through. The cuts are in the geometry: a drainage pipe, a reef line off the point, a mine mouth in the rock. You find one by looking at a track and believing it goes somewhere. Take it clean and the race says so; the post-race screen counts the ones you found and quietly tells you when one is still hidden.

One meter, three vehicles

Drift, draft, near-miss, carve, trick and grind all fill the same reservoir. Spend it as a short boost or bank it for an overdrive. It does not reset when the car turns into a board - your line through the whole race is one continuous argument for going faster.

Four cups, sixteen tracks, one rival who remembers

Canyon, Summit, Thunder and Raven: four races each, points after every one, the standings on screen between them. Be four points down going into the last race and the game will tell you so to your face. The AI drifts, drafts and takes the cuts, and the rival who beat you has something to say about it on the podium.

Somewhere between 1999 and 2003

Arcade racing built for the frame rate rather than the screenshot: hard shapes, saturated light, sixty frames, an original soundtrack, and a dog that rides along on the board with you.
